Map & Final Itinerary

The planned route compared with the final route taken across Japan

My friend and I (2 ladies) did our bike tour across Japan between October 2022 and January 2023. Here is our itinerary:

– The blue line is the route recorded by GPS.

– The circles indicate where we sleep at night.

Green means we camped in the open air (sometimes under a roof, in a gazebo or something).

Purple means we paid to stay at a hotel / inn / hostel / etc.

Red means we slept indoor without paying (at a Warmshowers host’s, bus waiting room, roadside station / etc.)

Icons inside the colour circles can mean park (a tree), campground (a triangle), roadside station, local’s house and hotel.

I will do a Q&A session on social media about bicycle touring in Japan. If you have any question related to bike touring / wild camping in Japan (and maybe Taiwan, Canada, Western Europe, where I had conducted bike tours), feel free to ask me. I will do my best to answer in a timely fashion.

This is our planed route vs the final route taken:

The full route, day by day.
