Cycling Across Canada

The route

Atlantic to Pacific: from St John’s, Newfoundland on 16 June 2009 to Victoria, British Columbia on 16 November — five months and the full width of Canada.

There is no GPS trace from this ride; in 2009 I carried a camera, but no such device. What survives is the photographs and the writing: emails sent to friends and hosts whenever I found a connection, beginning in Sault Ste Marie. They were never meant to be a blog, which is why they read the way they do.

Each dot is a night on the road. The line joins them in order — it is not a GPS trace; dashes mark the two water crossings.
